How to play Andar Bahar: Know the card game in detail

Andar Bahar is a popular Indian card game played with a single deck of 52 cards. The game is said to have originated in Bengaluru in India and is also known as Mang Patta and Katti.

Andar Bahar is based on the probability of halves and involves luck more than skills. Players in this game compete against the dealer rather than amongst themselves.

The game involves a dealer placing his card face-up and the players betting on which side the card of the same value will appear (either Andar or Bahar).

How to play Andar Bahar? The rules

To play Andar Bahar, the dealer initially shuffles the cards and deals one card face-up, also known as the Joker or trump card. Players bet on this trump card and predict which side (Andar or Bahar) the next card of the same value will show up.

The dealer deals one card at a time until the card value matching the Joker turns up. If the player has placed his bet on the Bahar side and the card dealt by the dealer is also on the same side matching the value of the Joker card, the player(s) wins the bet. The players who win enjoy a 25% payout in Andar Bahar. Meanwhile, the player(s) who have placed their bet on the Andar side lose.

For example, the dealer deals with a card of value 7 (Joker card). Players now bet if the next card dealt by the dealer of value 7 will be either on the Andar side or the Bahar side. The dealer will alternatively deal cards one by one on each side until a card of similar value is drawn.

If a card of value 7 is dealt on the Andar side, the players who have placed their bet will be the winners.

After a card is drawn on both sides, and if the Joker is still not exposed, players have an option to wager once again and place their second bets. The process remains similar and the dealer will draw the card until a card with the value of the Joker is dealt. Players winning the second bet are also awarded a 25% payout.

What are side bets in Andar Bahar?

Side bets are one of the popular features of playing Andar Bahar online. The side bets have a maximum payout of 120:1, meaning that players can earn a hefty prize for predicting the accurate result.

Two of the side bets that can be placed while playing Andar Bahar are:

Range side bets – In these bets, punters bet on the number of cards that can be drawn between the Joker and the card value similar to it.

Joker prediction side bet – In these types of bets, bettors predict the Joker card. Punters need to place their bets before the Joker card is drawn by the dealer and before any Andar Bahar bets are placed.
